Minutes 8th June 2004

Present: Jane Pickard (chair), Rod Brown, Coun Robert McConnell, Richard Moore, Bernie Bullbrook.

Minutes and Matters Arising Minutes were accepted. No matters arising.

Report from Robert McConnell As the meeting was small and Coun McConnell had to go early, it was decided to raise some council issues first:

1. Graffiti Coun McConnell said there was an avalanche of graffiti in Knight's Hill and it was clear that a new generation of graffiti "artists" had started work. Bernie Bullbrook asked if the council needed permission to clear graffiti from private premises. Coun McC didn't know and suggested someone email him re this. Another problem was that CCTV cameras didn't always point at graffiti trouble-spots.
Agreed to suggest each CCTV camera have a number visible from the street, so people could correspond with the council about them more easily.

2. St Luke's Gardens Coun McConnell said Luke Wickings, the vicar and chair of St Luke's Gardens Sub-Group, had written to the council saying that Lambeth should pay for the whole project. Jane Pickard confirmed that the sub-group thought this, pointing out that NAG and the church had taken on the project only because the council, which owned the land, had no money. Now that the council did have some money for environmental projects, it seemed obvious that the council should pay. This project was only £250,000 from a pot of around £15 million.
Counc McConnell urged the group to take this issue to the next meeting of the Area Committee.

Tulse Hill Transport Hub Survey. The meeting agreed JP's questions and decided that an A4 size was acceptable, if A5 proved too small. Also suggested:
* invite people to add comments on our website and post questionnaire there * formally ask station manager to accept completed forms * ask town centre to fund print run * send results to police among others * Richard Moore to lead on deliveries to retailers; JP to lead on dissemination to train passengers, Rod Brown to lead on dissemination to bus passengers.

AOB (1) Agreed to promote NAG at forum and area committee meetings and on notice boards.
(2) Also agreed to join Lambeth Voluntary Advice Council at cost of £10 a year.
