Message in the Bottle is to be launched in the Town Hall at the Festival of Age meeting on Wednesday 13th October.
It was agreed that we are totally supportive of Lambeth in their introduction of the scheme but the opportunity should be used to assist the Elderly and vulnerable even more by following the lead of adjoining borough of Southwark in issuing personal attack alarms, which has led to a 20% reduction in ' Crime Against the Person' in that borough, smoke detectors and, where requested, a visit by Crime Prevention and Fire Prevention Officers
Richard Moore told the meeting the Lambeth Crime Prevention Panel had already procured, free of charge, 3000 Personal attack alarms through a company named Smart Water. It was hoped that NAG may be able to play a part in the distribution of the' Bottles'

There was general agreement that the Council should be giving more recognition to the part played by the Voluntary Sector in the community.
